More than 10 million clean buckets per year at Veiling Rhein-Maas thanks to Limex
Over 530 million cut flowers make their way through Veiling Rhein-Maas each year. Behind this impressive number lies an apparently simple but crucial detail: a clean bucket. With top-level hygiene, flowers stay fresh and processes remain reliable. For over 25 years, the auction has relied on Limex washing machines for this purpose.
Michael Kotas, Department Head Logistics: “Thanks to Limex machines, we always have enough clean buckets on site and can ensure our processes run smoothly.”
Fast, efficient and sustainable
The Limex bucket washer processes an impressive 4,000 buckets per hour. And it’s not just about a clean appearance: labels are removed effortlessly, and harmful bacteria are effectively eliminated. In addition, the machine can handle various bucket sizes, currently eight, with a ninth on the way.
The system operates through four washing stages, each equipped with a rotating filter that removes both small and large debris from the water. This allows the water to be reused multiple times, reducing the need for fresh water and energy. A solution that is not only efficient but also contributes to more sustainable operations.
Developing and improving together
The collaboration between Veiling Rhein-Maas and Limex goes back more than 25 years. In 2014, the bucket washer was completely renewed, a process carried out in close cooperation.
Mark Ledwig, Commercial Department Head: “In 2014, we were able to completely reinstall our bucket washer together with Limex. We brought our experience into the discussions, and together we developed the new system.”
The result: a machine perfectly aligned with practical needs and the auction’s high hygiene standards.
