Versland invests in hygiene and efficiency with Limex crate washer
“We just wanted a good machine we could rely on.”
With that in mind, Versland invested in a new Limex crate washer. Versland is a leading wholesaler of fresh vegetables, active throughout Europe and based in Poeldijk, the Netherlands. From their modern facilities, they supply a wide range of products year-round to retailers, processing companies, and other wholesalers.
With over 400,000 crates in circulation, hygiene is a top priority at Versland. “Good hygiene is very important to us. We have all sorts of certifications that we must comply with, but it is essential throughout the entire food chain is thoroughly covered.” says Ed Koelewijn, General Manager of Versland.
A customized solution between two pillars
When searching for a new washer, reliability was paramount. But the machine also had to physically fit between two pillars in the production area. Limex therefore provided a custom solution with specially designed infeed and outfeed conveyors, perfectly integrated into the available space.
Maintenance also needed to remain simple. Thanks to the mobile setup, the surrounding area can be cleaned quickly and thoroughly, fully in line with Versland’s high hygiene standards.
Smart filtering and disinfection
The new washer is equipped with a drum filter that effectively removes impurities from the water. This ensures the process is not only hygienic but also sustainable. Hypochlorous acid is used for disinfection; a safe and effective solution that prevents limescale and maintains consistent, clean washing quality. The combination of filtration and disinfection guarantees that every crate enters the chain spotless.
Smooth collaboration
Both Versland and Limex look back on the project with satisfaction. “I experienced working with Versland as very pleasant. Short but effective,” says Bart, Sales Engineer at Limex.
Versland is also positive: “The contact between us and Limex is very good. It’s very easy and approachable. We are also very pleased with the performance of the machine so far. We are simply satisfied with how things are going.”
